Boston & Back

Whew..... It has been a busy summer... We are so behind in our blogging having traveled to the east coast 4 times between the two of us in the past two months. So here's our beginning of what's been going on with us. This past weekend, I had the amazing opportunity to shoot a wedding in Boston. Now, this was not just any wedding, it was a cultural affair. Eric and Anjali treated their guests to a multicultural experience that not many are fortunate to have. Let's just put it this way... The day began at 8:00am and end at 12:30am the next morning. Eric and Anjali had not one, but two weddings in a single day. Below you will get a taste of their traditional Hindu ceremony, as well as, what they referred to as their "western culture"ceremony and reception. I posted quite a few pics, just a snapshot of what took place during their extraordinary event. A special thanks to Seshu Photography for inviting to me to partner in this event!

Below I'll give you a little bit of info with each pic, as Anjali included an amazing program outlining the traditions for their non-indian guests who haven't experienced a Hindu wedding.

The arrival of Eric at the ceremony site. The groom is known as the Barat...
He is welcomed joyously by family friend as he enters the ceremony first.

The view from above the ceremony at the spectacular Boston Park Plaza hotel.
Look at those chandeliers. They are made entirely of Bacarat crystal

Blessings and prayers are given and the site is sanctified for the beginning of the ceremony.

The priest praying for the Barat

A view of all of the family incuding the groom. They ceremony
calls for the family to be very involved in the blessings of the marriage.

The beautiful gown that Anjali wore for her "western ceremony"
and reception. The detail on the dress was gorgeous.

Anjali preparing for her entrance. She had traditional
Henna on her body, the attention to detail is amazing.

The simple bouquets of callalilies were a great accent to the ornate bridesmaid gowns.

Another look at the fantastic Henna... The apprehension before the start of the big day!

Anjali's beautiful bouquet used for the western ceremony.

All the bridesmaids had simple henna done as well...
One of my favorite pics, the intricacy of the work is gorgeous.

The arrival of the bride, the Antarpat...A veil is put between
the bride and the groom as the bride enters the ceremony.

The ceremonial blessing and prayers made for the bride and groom.

The bride and her family blessing during the ceremony.

The Saptapadi, the Seven Footsteps, signifies the seven requirements essential
for a successful marriage. Those are some great looking feet! :)

The Ashirwad/Posh Pooza where the family and guests are sought for blessings by the
bride and groom. They are showered by flowers as the family and guests give their blessings.

Anjali and Eric as they prepare for their second part of their day!

Eric getting a little emotional during his brother's speech... A touching family moment, indeed.

We love cake, and this one surely did not disappoint! Continuing with
Anjali's beautiful turquoise theme, the cake was most impressive!

Some great laughs were shared as the speeches continued!

What a great pic! Anjali's laugh is just infectious!

And the bride and the groom truly enjoyed their first dance as
husband and wife... See what I mean, just an amazing day!

It was an absolute pleasure working with you in Boston. Come back and visit anytime. I look forward to seeing your entire take. I am glad you enjoyed the long day. Indian weddings are beautiful and meaningful. Anjali and Eric's wedding epitomized that with a great sense of tradition and style.
